Recommended fabrics: Oilskin, dry oilskin, mid-to-heavyweight cotton canvas or drill, mid-weight denim (8–14 oz).

Fabric placement guide: The pattern uses 3 distinct fabric sections: contrast (bottom and back panel), lining, and main body:

Contrast: You can opt for a heavier material here since the base will rest on the ground and the back panel experiences friction against your body. We only recommend using our 'Expedition Oilskin' for the contrast section; as it is exceptionally heavy, using it for the entire bag would strain standard domestic sewing machines.

Main body: Any of our standard fabric options can be used for the bag's main body.

Lining: The Barrier Lining is a great option due to its water-repellent finish.
